Legal
Privacy Policy
The editor is private by default. This policy explains what stays on your device and what Tael handles when you choose an account, AI, purchase, meeting, or collaborative Multi-Cam feature.
Last updated July 22, 2026. This policy is provided by Tael, a product of Karma-X.
The short version
- The core reel editor runs on your device. You do not need an account to import, edit, render, or export a film.
- Cloud AI and Meeting Recorder are optional and user-initiated. They receive the media and instructions needed for the workflow you choose, not your entire photo library.
- We do not sell personal data, use it for cross-service advertising, or use your content or likeness to train AI models.
- You can delete individual meetings and can delete your Tael cloud account in the app or at taelapp.com/account/delete/.
What stays on your device
Tael's core editing, grading, sequencing, and rendering happen locally. Features such as library search, memory suggestions, face grouping, and analysis of capture time or location metadata also run on-device. Tael does not upload your photo library, local face groups, contacts, or precise location as part of those features. The operating system may provide services such as photo selection or place-name lookup under its own privacy controls.
Information we collect
What Tael receives depends on the features you use:
- Account and security data - email address, account identifier, one-time-code records, sign-in timestamps, token hashes, and limited IP/request data used for authentication, rate limiting, fraud prevention, and service security. We do not store an account password.
- Purchases and credits - payment provider, product, order or transaction identifiers, quantity, fulfillment and refund status, purchase-token hashes, and the credit ledger. Apple, Google, and Stripe process payment details; Tael does not receive or store your full card number.
- AI requests and results - the images, frames, clips, audio, prompts, chat messages and conversation context, settings, and on-device-derived tags you explicitly submit, plus generated results, workflow status, and errors. Caption and Director preview frames are downscaled and re-encoded to remove embedded EXIF/GPS metadata. A place named in a prompt remains part of that prompt.
- Meeting Recorder data - the recording, meeting metadata, transcript, speaker labels, summary, action items, and any Action Center drafts you save or edit.
- Collaborative Multi-Cam data - event title, description, date, time zone, city, venue, per-event display label and camera role, membership and review status, moments, selected clips and clip notes, upload checksums and technical media metadata, import receipts, account blocks, and abuse reports. Initial event discovery does not upload precise GPS coordinates. We remove embedded media metadata before an approved clip is made available to the host.
- Website and communications - waitlist email and confirmation, support messages you send, essential session and CSRF cookies, and standard server logs such as IP address, time, route, browser, and response status.
How we use information
We use this information to authenticate accounts; deliver the feature you requested; meter credits and fulfill purchases; preserve meeting history and drafts; provide support; detect abuse; secure, debug, and improve reliability; comply with law; and communicate about Tael when you ask us to. We do not use private content to train AI models or build advertising profiles.
Cloud AI processing
When you start a cloud workflow, Tael sends its required input to infrastructure we operate and, where needed, service providers acting for us. A photo transformation may require a selected full image; Photo to Video and Video Style require selected visual media; music generation receives your music prompt and settings; transcription and Meeting Recorder require selected audio. Resizing and metadata removal are used where the workflow permits, but some creative tools need more media than caption planning.
Tael Chat sends the conversation context supplied for a reply to Tael's configured AI model. Tael does not create or retain a server-side conversation history. By default, the app may save account-scoped conversations in private storage on that device, excluded from the operating system's cloud backup. A user may separately choose to save short account memories, such as a preference or useful fact. Those entries are linked to the Tael account, used to personalize future replies, and can be viewed, edited, or deleted. They are not used to train a shared AI model. Temporary Chat neither stores local history nor uses saved memories, although providers still process each request as needed to return the answer.
AI output can be inaccurate, unexpected, or different from the source. Review generated media, captions, transcripts, summaries, and action drafts before relying on or sharing them.
Meeting Recorder
Meeting Recorder uploads the recording to Tael's private compute services to create a transcript, speaker labels, summary, and action items. Meetings and their retained audio are automatically deleted after up to 90 days, and you can delete a meeting earlier from its history. Action Center drafts are stored with your account; Tael does not automatically send an email or create a calendar event, task, or reminder. You are responsible for obtaining any consent required to record other people.
Collaborative Multi-Cam
When you create, join, or contribute to a cloud Multi-Cam event, Tael links the event and contribution state to your account. Other participants see only your per-event display label, camera role, and contribution information, not your email or Tael account identifier. The event host reviews contributed media and can explicitly download an approved clip into the host's local project. Tael does not automatically publish a finished reel or allow private messaging between participants.
Private and unlisted event references should be shared only with intended participants. A listed event can appear in text, date, city, and venue search. Blocking filters future discovery and joining between the affected accounts. Reports and associated material may be reviewed by authorized moderators and preserved while an abuse or legal review remains open.
When we disclose information
We disclose only what is reasonably needed to:
- infrastructure, storage, compute, transcription, model, email-delivery, and support providers that process information for Tael under service restrictions;
- Apple, Google, Stripe, and related payment systems to verify and administer purchases, refunds, fraud, and disputes;
- comply with law, protect users or the service, investigate abuse, or exercise legal rights; or
- complete a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale, subject to appropriate notice and protection for personal information.
We do not sell or rent personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or include advertising SDKs in the Tael apps.
Retention
- Meetings - audio and meeting results are retained for up to 90 days unless you delete them sooner. Action drafts remain until their meeting, your account, or the draft itself is deleted.
- Collaborative Multi-Cam - unfinished upload parts expire after 24 hours; failed, canceled, rejected, or withdrawn media is scheduled for deletion within 24 hours; pending-review media is retained up to 30 days; approved media up to 90 days; and a verified host import starts a seven-day deletion grace period. Event metadata is ordinarily deleted after 120 days. An open report or legal obligation can require longer preservation. Deleting or withdrawing a server copy cannot erase a clip that an event host already downloaded to another device.
- Private-beta caption debugging - when the restricted debug cache is enabled, submitted downscaled Caption or Director frames, request settings, and the result or error may be retained in private storage for up to 30 days.
- Other AI media - working inputs are retained only as operationally needed to process, retrieve, troubleshoot, and secure the requested workflow. Generated music and video files may be delivered through an unlisted, hard-to-guess link; anyone who has that link may be able to access it, so do not share it unintentionally.
- AI chat - Tael does not store messages as server-side conversation history. Each request is processed with the context the app sends. Local history is device-only and account-scoped; users can choose Temporary Chat, turn future saving off, delete one or all saved conversations, or select Never, 30-day, or 90-day auto-deletion. Short memories are stored only when a user explicitly saves them and remain until that memory or the account is deleted.
- Accounts and purchases - account, token, credit, and purchase audit records are kept while the account is active and as needed to administer transactions, security, disputes, and legal obligations.
- Website records - essential cookies expire or are removed with the session; security logs and waitlist/support records are kept only as long as needed for their stated purpose.
Your choices and deletion
You can use the core editor without a Tael cloud account. You can decline a cloud workflow, delete individual meetings and drafts, sign out, and delete your account in the app or on the website. Account deletion removes the account, active access tokens, credit balance and ledger, purchase audit rows held by Tael, meeting history and audio, Action Center drafts, saved Chat memories, and Collaborative Multi-Cam events, memberships, contributions, private server media, and blocks. Unused credits are forfeited. Reported material may be temporarily preserved for an open abuse or legal review, and account deletion cannot erase copies another participant already downloaded. Payment providers may retain transaction records under their own legal obligations, and limited security or legal records may be retained where required.
You may also ask to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold, or object to or restrict certain processing where applicable, by contacting us. We may need to verify that the request belongs to you.
Security and international processing
Tael uses measures such as encrypted network transport, hashed bearer tokens and purchase tokens, access controls, and service isolation. No system is perfectly secure. Tael and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate, subject to applicable safeguards.
Children
Tael's cloud account and paid AI services are not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information without the consent required by law, contact us so we can investigate and delete it.
